Frequently asked questions

The following are questions that have been asked more than once throughout this campaign, all answered in one convenient page. If you have questions that aren't answered here, feel free to email us about it. (Who knows, your question might even eventually make it to this page!)

Q: Is Terry running against Stacy Brooks?
A: No. Stacy Brooks is running for re-election to the State Committeewoman seat in our district; Terry is running for election to the State Committeeman seat. These are separate offices and do not compete with each other. You can vote for Terry & Stacy on the same ballot (which is what Terry intends to do!)
Q: Will Terry have to run in the Primary Election this May and again in the General Election in November?

A: Nope. Party offices are decided solely within the Democratic Party, so this Primary Election in May is the only chance you get to vote for Terry to become State Committeeman. So get out there and vote on or before May 5th!

Q: Why is Terry running in the 17th State Senate District if he isn't running for state senate?

A: In Ohio, each major party has a State Central Committee that makes decisions for the party across the whole state. Ohio law mandates that members to that committee are elected using the same geographic boundaries as the Ohio State Senate. The Democratic Party voters in each State Senate District (there are 33 of them in Ohio) get to select two people, one man and one woman, to represent them on the Ohio Democratic Party State Central Committee. Terry is running to become the State Central Committeeman for the 17th State Senate District, which is how you will see his name listed on your ballot when you go to vote.

Q: I'm not a registered Democrat, can I vote for Terry in this election?
A: Yes, absolutely! In Ohio you are permitted to choose any party's ballot you want during the Primary Election. Once you vote a Democratic Party Ballot during a Primary Election, you are recorded as a member of the Democratic Party by the Board of Elections for at least the next two years or until you choose a different party's ballot in a Primary Election. You can choose a Democratic Party Ballot in this election and vote for Terry no matter your previous electoral history.
Q: What can I do to best support Terry?
A: The single most important thing you can do is tell EVERYONE about Terry and encourage them to vote for him on or before May 5th! Share social media posts, link people to this webpage, talk to people about why you're voting for Terry—all of these actions help immensely. And of course, you can donate so that Terry's message can reach the most people!
