What If I'm Not Registered as a Democrat?

In Ohio, you have the freedom to take a Democratic Party ballot at any Primary Election regardless of which ballot you have chosen in the past. You can vote for Terry Williams & vote on other races including school levies, liquor options, and all local issues in your region.

Contrary to popular belief, Ohioans no longer "register" formally as a political party member as citizens in nearby states still do. There is no signature card at the board of elections listing you as a permanent member of one political party or the other. Instead, you choose your political affiliation every Primary Election by choosing the ballot of the party with which you wish to identify.

When you go to vote, the Board of Elections staff person or Precinct Election Official should begin by asking you for your identification and then you should hear "And which party ballot would you like today?" All you have to do is ask for the Democratic Party ballot and you can vote for Terry (as long as you live in his district!)

Partisan ballots only apply to Primary Elections. In the General Election, every voter receives the same ballot if they live in the same precinct; your party affiliation only changes what races you will see on the Primary Ballot that you choose to take.
